The No. 22 Long Beach State softball team (20-7) celebrated the ground breaking ceremony for the new clubhouse with a 4-2 win over Texas Tech (16-9) on Wednesday at the LBSU Softball Complex.

Sophomore Cielo Meza struck out nine and allowed just one hit over five innings on the way to her 12th win. Sophomore Devyn Magnett worked out of a fifth-inning jam and picked up her second save.
LBSU loaded the bases in the third inning, and Lauren MacLeod was hit by and pitch to score Julia Lombardi. Texas Tech tied the game in the fourth inning, but LBSU broke the game open in the fifth inning. Lombardi doubled, Rachel Loera bunted for a single, Fry delivered an RBI single and then MacLeod tripled to right field, scoring Loera and Fry for a 4-1 lead.
LBSU closes out its eight-game homestand today against Monmouth at 2 p.m.
