St. Anthony heads to Downey Friday night for the toughest test of the season as they open Del Rey league play against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy.
While the Saints (4-2) have had a successful non-league start, and the Warriors’ 1-4 record may not look impressive, they have had a tough non-league schedule.
Saints coach Raul Lara said the Warriors don’t look too different from last year when St. Pius X-St. Matthias put up an 8-2 record and went undefeated in league play.
St. Anthony will look to control the line of scrimmage in a contest that will go a long way to decide the league title.
“If we want to win league, it starts with beating them,” Lara said.
