The playoff brackets for the 2025 CIF-SS beach volleyball playoffs were released on Thursday, with four playoff teams from Long Beach learning their postseason draws.
Division 2
The Moore League champions from Wilson got a great draw as the No. 2 seed in the D2 playoffs, and are one of only two teams in the bracket to receive a first-round bye. The Bruins enter the playoffs with a 14-4 record, and will host the winner of Hillcrest (12-3) and Dos Pueblos (7-11) in the second round next Thursday.
Prior to the release of the brackets, Wilson coach Jeremy Cook was hoping to end up as one of the top seeds in the D2 bracket, where he feels his Bruins can be poised for a deep run.
“We think we can really compete,” Cook said of his team after last week’s Moore League finals. “We’re a little bit hopeful we’re D2 because we think we’re built to compete and even win a CIF championship this year.”
The Millikan Rams (10-4) were the second place team out of the Moore League and will be hosting Gateway League champion Downey (15-4) on Tuesday in round one. The Rams are coming off the league championships where three of their pairs reached the final four of that bracket and will look to earn a win against a local rival. A win on Tuesday would set up a second-round matchup against either Bishop Montgomery or Norco.
St. Anthony (8-3) also finds itself in Division 2 after finishing third in the Del Rey League. The Saints are on the road in Tuesday’s opening round, visiting Xavier Prep. The other Saints from Palm Desert went 13-0 this season, presenting a tough challenge out of the gate for St. Anthony.
Division 3
Long Beach’s fourth and final playoff team is Long Beach Poly (4-6), the third place team out of the Moore League. The Jackrabbits are on the road Tuesday, visiting Coastal Christian (6-1) in the first round.
All matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. but are subject to change.
