Long Beach City College women’s soccer won its Southern California Regional opener in a penalty kick shootout at home on Wednesday night. The Vikings played Orange Coast to a 2-2 draw and then won on PKs 6-3.
Laila Alfadhiel and Lorena Moreno scored the goals for LBCC before Alfadhiel, Bryanna Duarte, Charlotte Grace and Camila Velasco netted the PK goals. Goalkeeper Jackie Garibay also made a shootout stop.
LBCC (11-4-6) will play the second round on Monday.
