HIGH SCHOOL

Loren Webster, Wilson Track & Field

Junior Loren Webster was the star of the day for the Wilson Bruins as she led her squad to a CIF State championship last weekend. Webster won the long jump with a 20-5.25, winning by more than a foot. She also ran on the Bruins’ sixth-place 4×100 to help earn them enough points for the state crown.

Xai Ricks, Long Beach Poly Track & Field

Georgia-bound Long Beach Poly senior Xai Ricks won the day for the Jackrabbits with his state title in the 400, running a 46.79. Ricks also anchored Poly’s third-place 4×400 which clinched the team championship for Poly.

Jamar Andrews, Jordan Track & Field

Jordan junior Jamar Andrews put up a pair of massive 47-foot PRs in the triple jump last week, not only bettering his mark but earning a spot on the CIF State podium. Andrews threw down a 47-03.75 in prelims and a 47-00.25 in the Finals to claim third place in the state.

Jason Parra, Millikan Track & Field

Millikan senior Jason Parra wasn’t happy with his finish at the CIF State Finals, but it will still an impressive cap to the most successful distance running career in Long Beach prep history. Parra took third in the 3200 in 8:47.43, and is now off to Notre Dame as part of the nation’s top recruiting class.

COLLEGE
