Avalon Boys’ Volleyball took down La Mirada in a four set match on Thursday.
The Lancers took the first set in a 25-20 battle. The Matadors battled back to take the second set 19-25. Avalon then regained their rhythm to take the next two sets 25-21 and 25-20, overall winning the game.
Junior Jacob Mello led the way for the Lancers with 16 kills and 24 digs. Senior David Mulgado had 12 kills of his own, while junior Aaron Meza had 46 assists. Junior Uriel Zavala put up nice numbers with 29 digs. Some strong sophomores also made some noise, with Erick Madriz having 7 kills and Nathan Jones getting 4 kills of his own paired with 5 blocks.
The Lancers swept St. Paul two days later and will host Vasquez on May 1 at 6 p.m.
