HIGH SCHOOL

Ben Keisler, Millikan Baseball

Ben Keisler is an RBI machine for Millikan. The junior was 2/4 with a double, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs in a Moore League championship-clinching win over Lakewood last week.

Ben Howard, Wilson Baseball

Wilson’s Ben Howard got the start on the mound and threw a gem last week against Long Beach Poly. Howard gave up just two hits in six innings pitched in the shutout win over the Jackrabbits.

Addyson Everett, Millikan Softball

Millikan sophomore Addyson Everett had 6 RBIs in a win at Wilson last week, which kept the Rams undefeated in the Moore League.

Kayla Cisneros, Millikan Softball

Kayla Cisneros came through with a clutch bases-clearing hit in the 7th inning to help Millikan earn a thrilling comeback win over Poly, which kept them undefeated in league heading to another league title.

COLLEGE SPORTS

Jasmine Leovao, Long Beach State Golf

Sophomore Jasmine Leovao repeated as the Big West Individual Champion, winning the Big West Championship with a score of -4 as Long Beach State won the team championship as well. Leovao became the first back-to-back winner since 2004.

RACING

Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi Racing

Veteran driver Scott Dixon kicked it old school on Sunday in the 49th running of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach in front of a capacity record-setting crowd. Dixon, 43, came from eighth place to take the checkered flag for his second win in Long Beach.
