Simrin Adams/Sadie Calderone, Wilson Volleyball
Wilson sophomores Simrin Adams and Sadie Calderone were the city’s best team all season long and they capped it with a 21-8, 21-11 performance in the Moore League pairs championship finals.
Morgan Zimmerman, Millikan Softball
Millikan third baseman Morgan Zimmerman reached base five times with two singles, two doubles and a HBP in a big win over Lakewood. Zimmerman also drove in two runs and scored twice.
Jackson Trunnelle, Long Beach Poly Volleyball
Senior Jackson Tunnelle had a big night for Long Beach Poly in a win over Wilson, which put the Jackrabbits in first place by themselves in boys’ volleyball. Trunnelle had seven kills at oppo as well as three blocks.
RACING
Kyle Kirkwood, Andretti Autosport
Kyle Kirkwood won the 50th Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday, becoming just the seventh racer in event history to win two titles in three years (he won in 2023 as well). Kirkwood gives Andretti Autosport their seventh title in Long Beach as a team.
