On Sunday afternoon, the Dirtbags (14-19, 8-10) dropped the Big West Conference series finale to CSU Bakersfield 12-6 on Bohl Diamond at Blair Field.
Long Beach led 6-0 after four innings but the Roadrunners (14-23, 7-8) scored seven runs in the fifth inning and never lost their lead. Matt Toomey, Conner Stewart and Easton Elliot each had two hits for the Dirtbags while Kyle Ashworth drove in a team-high two runs.
The Dirtbags are two games back of fifth place in the conference and the top five teams will advance to the Big West Championship tournament next month.
Long Beach visits Cal State Fullerton for a weekend series starting Friday night.
