Mason Peterson, Long Beach Poly Lacrosse
Mason Peterson had a hat trick to lead the way for Long Beach Poly lacrosse in a big win over Millikan. The victory keeps the Jackrabbits undefeated in the Moore League.
Emerson May, Wilson Lacrosse
Wilson goalie Emerson May has led the Bruins to an undefeated 6-0 start to Moore League play with a .767 save rate, and just 22 goals allowed all year. May held the line in an 8-7 win over Downey in quadruple overtime last week to set up Brooke Donovan’s walk-off winner.
Ben Keisler, Millikan Baseball
Ben Keisler had a Ram fever dream of a game against rival Lakewood last week. The senior third baseman went 5/5 at the plate with 2 RBIs and 3 runs, including an inside-the-park homerun.
Ben Howard, Wilson Baseball
Wilson pitcher Ben Howard scattered five hits and struck out eight in a 3-1 win over Long Beach Poly last week, which keeps the Bruins in the Moore League title hunt alongside Millikan.
Riley McAndrew, Millikan Softball
Millikan junior Riley McAndrew had two RBI triples in the a big win over Long Beach Poly last week, which gives the Rams sole possession of first place.
Charlotte White, Wilson Softball
Wilson got a big win over Lakewood thanks to some big offensive performances from Charlotte White and Tatum Yates. White went 3/4 with 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored in the victory.
Lucas Jue, Long Beach Poly Swimming
Long Beach Poly’s Lucas Jue set a pair of school records at the Klaus Barth Invitational last weekend, with a 4:25 500 free and a 48.76 100 backstroke. Jue was named Boys’ Swimmer of the Meet.
COLLEGE
Kate Barnett, Long Beach State Softball
Sophomore Kate Barnett led Long Beach State to a three-game sweep on the road at UC Davis. She threw two complete games to pitch the final 14 innings of the series, allowing just one run in each game, further lowering her ERA to a Big West-best 1.51.
