The Long Beach State basketball season came to an end on Wednesday afternoon in Henderson as the Beach dropped their first-round matchup in the Big West Tournament to UC Riverside, 54-40.
The Beach started slow with just four points in the opening quarter, and never broke through offensively. LBSU had just four assists, and did not have anyone reach double-figures in scoring.
Rachel Loobie led the way with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Savannah Tucker and Kennan Ka each chipped in seven points for the Beach.
UC Riverside led 17-14 at halftime, and held just a four point edge going into the final quarter, but the Highlanders outscored Long Beach 23-13 over the final 10 minutes to put the game away.
Long Beach State ends the season at 16-14, losing eight of their last 13 games to close out the year. That represents a modest improvement from their 15-18 record during the 2023-24 campaign.
