A pair of wins over Compton this week was all Long Beach Poly girls’ soccer needed to finish off its Moore League championship season. It is the first league title for the Jackrabbits in nine years.
Impressive performances in December’s draw at Wilson and last week’s win at Millikan were the key results to get the Jackrabbits back on top.
“I’ve loved all my teammates over the years, but something I realized about this group this year is we wanted it so bad, we pushed so hard,” Poly senior Katana Van Deusen said after the Millikan game. “We’ve known we were strong from the beginning, it was just about being able to put home those goals. And what put this team apart from every other one is our tenacity to go get it. We just wanted this so bad.”
Long Beach Poly, and the rest of the Moore League now await the release of the CIF Southern Section soccer brackets on Saturday.
