Softball: Long Beach Poly’s Ki’ele Ho-Ching Named USA Softball Top Performer

The562’s coverage of Long Beach Poly is sponsored by Bryson Financial.

Long Beach Poly junior Ki’ele Ho-Ching received a major national honor on Thursday, as she was named one of the Top Performers from USA Softball’s U16 National Team Selection Event. Ho-Ching, ranked the No. 3 recruit in the junior class, recently committed to the University of Oklahoma.

The Selection Event was held in Vero Beach, Florida in December, and as one of the 18 Top Performers in the U16 group, Ho-Ching is now eligible to be selected to the U18 National Team, with rosters expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

Ho-Ching will lead a talented Jackrabbit team this year hoping to unseat perennial Moore League champ Millikan. In addition to Ho-Ching, Poly boasts Cal commit Emoni Lam Sam, Bethune Cookman commit Kween Tauala, and power bat Janelle Morris among other talented returners.

More than 400 athletes from across the country participated in the Selection Event, which USA Softball refers to as the “Pipeline to the Women’s National Team.”
