Long Beach Poly senior Aaya McLyn is being honored at the highest levels of sport possible for a high school athlete. The Moore League Player of the Year in flag football, McLyn played in the Under Armour Next All-American girls’ flag football game over the break, and on Thursday was named a finalist for the NFL’s inaugural Maxwell National Player of the Year Award.
McLyn will represent the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL’s awards, and also competed in the LA Chargers Flag Football All-Star Game.
Despite her national prominence in the sport, flag football is McLyn’s second sport–she’s an NCAA Division 1 signee in soccer, where she’s signed with Washington State. McLyn is currently competing for the Jackrabbits in both soccer and basketball, with plans to play a fourth and possibly fifth sport for Poly in the Spring.
