Career nights from freshman Kam Martin and senior Devin Askew carried Long Beach State men’s basketball to its third consecutive win 76-70 at San Diego on Tuesday night.
Martin scored a career-high 25 points in the win while fellow guard Devin Askew chipped in 23 points plus a career-high eight assists.
LBSU (4-8) went through some shooting woes to start the season but has shot over 50 percent as a team in the straight victories. Martin made eight of his 10 field goal attempts and made all five of his 3-point attempts.
San Diego (3-7) took an early 15-7 lead but LBSU chipped away and was up 33-30 at halftime. The Beach never trailed in the second half.
Forward Austin Johnson scored 12 points for LBSU while guard TJ Wainwright was the team’s rebounding leader with seven.
