Having just taken their first league loss with playoffs coming over the horizon, the St. Anthony Saints are still taking the end of their season one game at a time. The Saints will look to get back on track while hosting Harvard-Westlake in Friday’s homecoming game at 7pm at Clark Field.
“The fight in our guys has been here the whole year and it’s intensified, so it makes me excited for the rest of this year,” said Saints coach Jeff Magdaleno. “Two more league games and then you hope you’re in the playoffs, but it’s been our motto to just take it one game at a time. Now we just gotta finish strong. For the most part we control our own destiny.”
The Saints are coming off a sluggish battle against Salesian but can hang their heads on an impressive defensive performance. St. Anthony allowed just 10 points and will look to get their offense back up to speed in their second to last game of the season.
St. Anthony was faced with tough news prior to last week’s matchup of a confirmed season-ending injury to senior running back Nathan Martinez. Marco Camacho will be one of the guys in his spot while QB Aidan Jones and receivers Jasiah Lolesio-Pua and Marco Transfiguracion will look to revamp their pass game.
Last week, Lolesio-Pua put up a game-high seven catches for 98 yards. Transfiguracion also came up big with the Saints only touchdown on the night with an impressive grab in the endzone.
Harvard-Westlake comes into the game with a strong rushing attack that’s averaged 5.2 yards per carry this season. Kurtis Walter is averaging almost 71 rushing yards a game while Ellis Robinson is averaging 7.3 yards per carry and has eight touchdowns on the season.
