This time when Lakewood and Millikan meet Friday night for the annual Battle of the Blueprint rivalry football game, first place in the Moore League will be on the line.
With a win, Millikan would take the inside track to an undefeated Moore League season, but Lakewood can force a three-way tie at the top of the Moore League if the Lancers beat the Rams.
Millikan is coming off a historic 53-40 win against Poly that broke the Jackrabbits’ 15-year, 81-game win streak dating back to 2009.
“Our goal is always to win a Moore League championship, CIF championship, state championship, but it’s one day at a time,” Millikan coach Romeo Pellum said earlier this season.
Running back Anthony League continued his dominating season with 258 yards and four touchdowns against Poly surpassing 1,000 yards rushing this season.
However, Lakewood knows a little bit about the Moore League history and was the team that defeated Poly in 2009 on their way to the league title.
The Lancers’ offense has been on a roll and that was evident last week as Kade Casillas tossed six touchdowns to six different receivers on their way to a 56-6 win over Jordan last week.
Along with Casillas, Jojo Apisala and Nytrell Miller have become a dominant duo in the backfield to create some space for the Lancer offense to get their playmakers involved.
Casillas is looking forward to the match up after not having his best game against the Rams last season.
“That’s a bounce back game for me, you know, coming off last year for my worst game ever,” Casillas said. “That’s a big game for me. That’s a big game for us.”
Kick off is set for 7 p.m. at Lakewood.
