Long Beach Poly Transfer Madden Iamaleava Denied Eligibility by CIF-SS

Long Beach Poly football transfer Madden Iamaleava has been ruled ineligible with the Jackrabbits by the CIF Southern Section, according to the CIF-SS website. In a decision dated Friday but posted to the CIF-SS website Monday, Iamaleava’s status is listed as “denied” with the note “Denied athletic eligibility in all sports at Poly/Long Beach or any CIF high school until October 1, 2026.”

Reached on Tuesday, CIF-SS spokesperson Thom Simmons said the office had no further comment besides what had been posted on their website.

Iamaleava and his little sisters, McKennah and Ellie, had transferred to Poly from Warren midseason and had applied for immediate eligibility with a valid change of residence. The sisters aren’t listed on the CIF-SS transfer portal yet but are likely to also be denied as they were applying under the same valid change of residence criteria.

Iamaleava is a high-profile football player, a quarterback verbally committed to UCLA; his older brother Nico is one of the frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy in his first season starting at Tennessee this year.

There’s no word from the CIF-SS yet as to the eligibility of Jace Brown, another UCLA commit who transferred from Warren to Poly midseason.

The quartet transferred into the school approximately a month ago and have been attending classes there since then.

The ruling comes during a big week, with Long Beach Poly set to travel to Millikan on Friday for the biggest football game of the year, one where the host Rams have serious aspirations to snap a 15 year long win streak in the Moore League for the Jackrabbits.

We’ll have more information on this story as it develops.
