The LBCC football team got on the right side of .500 for the first time this season with their third win in a row, a double-overtime thriller against their rivals Cerritos. The Vikings claimed the Crosstown Cup with the 38-30 double OT victory.
LBCC (3-2) trailed 27-17 with 7:17 left in the game after the Falcons’ Cheo Medina ran in a touchdown. But the Vikings battled back as Jett Peddy hit Dylan Clark for a 32 yard touchdown, and then Eric Zavala drilled an 18 yard field goal late that tied the game and sent it to overtime.
The teams exchanged field goals in the first overtime series, and then LBCC went up 38-30 on a touchdown pass from Peddy to Troy Crozier, with Dylan Clark throwing a two-point conversion. Jonah Martinez’s third interception of the game denied the Falcons and gave the Vikings the victory.
LBCC will have a bye this week then travel to East LA College Thursday, October 17 at 7pm. Their next home game is Homecoming against Orange Coast College at 1pm on 10/26.
