The Long Beach State volleyball team couldn’t find their rhythm all night as they dropped their match to Hawai’i 25-17, 25-16, 25-19 Saturday night at Walter Pyramid.

Right from the start of the match, the Beach couldn’t get into a rhythm and it showed as LBSU had a zero hitting percentage after tallying six kills and six attacking errors.

Hawai’I didn’t hit much better but controlled the first set after being tied at 13. The Rainbow Wahine (9-5,3-1) went on a 12-4 run to take the first set.

Natalie Glenn had a quiet night but tied the match at 1-1 in the second set and once again Hawai’i went on a 6-0 run to take a 7-1 lead thanks to Caylen Alexander who had three kills. Alexander finished the contest with a match-high 18 kills.

The momentum carried on throughout the set as Jaclyn Bamis also got into the action as Hawai’I extended its lead to 22-12 before taking the 25-16 win.

For the Beach it was a couple steps back after having their worst hitting percentage since their opening game against Pittsburgh.

Early in the third set a kill from Natalie Glenn pushed LBSU’s lead to 4-2, but the Rainbow Wahine went on another 6-0 run to take a 8-5 lead and never looked back taking the set 25-19.

Madi Maxwell led the LBSU with 7 kills and Glenn has 5.

The Beach will continue Big West play when they travel to take on Cal State Northridge next Thursday.
