The new era of Compton football hits the road Thursday night as the Tarbabes are traveling with their new offense to crosstown rival Centennial.
Compton (1-0) showed what their new offense can do with sophomore QB Francis Madera who threw for over 250 yards and four touchdowns last week against Rancho Dominguez. The sophomore slinger also showed there were some things to adjust after throwing three interceptions.
Ronnie Mixon, Diontae Dill, and Nate Willard will be a threat on the outside for the Tarbabes, and although the offense looks different, Compton can also run the ball as needed. That was evident after Junior Ameer Freeman rushed for more than 100 yards and a touchdown last Friday.
Centennial also picked up a week one victory as they defeated Compton Early College 47-38.
Last season, Compton defeated Centennial 57-6. In his freshman debut, Madera tossed three touchdowns in the lopsided victory.
