The Long Beach Poly football team is set to kick off the 2024 season on the road, as the Jackrabbits are traveling 400+ miles to Folsom to face the Folsom High football team in what will be a major early-season test for a young Jackrabbits team.

“It’s the hardest nonleague schedule we’ve had since I’ve been here, for sure,” said Poly coach Stephen Barbee, whose squad will also face Serra, Mission Viejo, and San Diego power Lincoln. The Folsom Bulldogs may not be one of the marquee names in California football yet, but that could be changing.

The Bulldogs are a historic public power who went 13-2 last year with a Division 1 CIF State championship win over St. Bonaventure; they return a ton of talent and will feature a running back committed to Nevada as well as defensive lineman Josiah Sharma, a 6-6, 300 lb monster committed to Texas.

The Jackrabbits feature a ton of young talent but will need to play well up front to open their season with a win on the road. Poly will return home next week to host Lincoln from San Diego at Veterans Memorial Stadium at 7pm.
