After shooting an even par round at Temecula Creek Golf Course in the CIF Individual Championship this week, Wilson senior Bryson Barnes is headed to the CIF State Qualifier on Wednesday at Los Serrano.
Barnes used a pair of clutch birdies on the back nine and a par save out of the sand on the 18th hole to finish two shots above the cut line. The last Bruin to reach CIF State competition was Tyler Schafer in 2018.
Earlier this month, Barnes won the Moore League individual title and took the CIF Southern Section Regional championship after surviving a six-hole playoff.
Wilson also competed as a team this week in CIF-SS Division 1 finals at Bear Creek Golf Course, but fell three strokes short of advancing.
