HIGH SCHOOL

Anthony Pack, Millikan Baseball

Anthony Pack came up big for the Rams as Millikan defeated Poly in a blowout last week to complete their undefeated Moore League season. Pack went 3/3 and drew a walk in the victory.

Lucky Iosua, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Lucky Iosua was a big-time leader for Poly with a game-high 31 kills in their reverse sweep of Trabuco Hills, as he led them to the quarterfinals with the five-set victory.

Sammie Hamilton, Wilson Swim

Wilson senior Sammie Hamilton won the 200 and 500 free in historic fashion at the Moore League Finals, with two league records and All-American standards. She also anchored big wins in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay, the latter of which also set a league record.

Wyatt Mitchell, Wilson Swim

Wilson senior Wyatt Mitchell won the 200 and 100 free and also helped bring home a 200 free relay win for the Bruins as they took the Moore League title at last week’s Moore League Finals.

Kenny Roman, Jordan Baseball

Kenny Roman helped lead the Panthers to a winning season this year, and he threw a complete game gem against Cabrillo last week yielding two hits and one run in a 5-1 victory over the Jags.

Nolan Alvarez, Millikan Tennis

Millikan’s Nolan Alvarez is the back-to-back Moore League singles champion. Alvarez defeated Douglas Smith 6-4, 6-1 to earn his second straight championship, and has appeared in the championship game each of his four years at Millikan.

Loren Webster, Wilson Track

The biggest performance for Wilson at Moore League Finals was Loren Webster, who hit a new state-leading long jump mark of 20-9.5 as she gears up for another successful postseason. Webster would have won the league title with all three of her fair marks, and after the 20-9.5 was posted, she moved into No. 2 in the nation.

Ava Schaffel, Millikan Softball

The Millikan battery of pitcher Ava Schaffel and catcher Jocelyn Owen led the Rams to victory against Lakewood. Schaffel pitched a complete game shutout to lead Millikan to another Moore League championship.
