There’s a significant rivalry developing between Wilson and Millikan in Moore League girls’ lacrosse, and the Bruins get the better of the Rams on Tuesday 12-5.
“I don’t care if it’s Compton, Millikan, Downey everybody wants to beat everybody, friendly competition, but once the girls are on the field, sometimes you know what to expect,” Wilson coach Vic Escoto said of the intense game.
Wilson senior Kendall Bostre was active throughout the victory and scored a goal. She thinks a recent loss reenergized the Bruins for this league matchup.
“We needed to pick it up, so I feel like we definitely picked it up by the end of the season, and now we’re ready for CIF,” Bostre said. “The sport is improving as a whole. I feel like it’s only getting better from here.”
Millikan junior Madi Hamm scored a game-high four goals.
“I was a little nervous at first, but I mean, I was trying to be really competitive and aggressive,” Hamm said. “I started to love it a lot (the sport of lacrosse). This is my second sport so I am starting to really get into it. I think we’re gonna do great next season. We have a good program building up and I’m sad for this year’s seniors obviously but I think we’re good.”
