The Long Beach State women’s golf team absolutely dominated the Big West Championship this week at Spanish Trail Country Club. Sophomore Jasmine Leovao repeated as winner of the event as an individual and the LBSU team won by an impressive 23-stroke margin.
This is the fourth team championship for LBSU, and it qualifies the Beach for the NCAA postseason. The Beach has also completed this feat in 2006, 2009, 2018 and 2019.
Leovao secured the individual championship with a final round 74 to finish with the championship 4-under par, the only score under par for the tournament. Leovao is the fourth golfer to repeat as the individual Big West Champion and the first since Beth Allen of CSUN in 2003 and 2004. She is also the sixth individual medalist to come from LBSU.
Freshman Andee Avery also had a great performance for LBSU, finishing the tournament with her best round of the season in a 5-under par 67.
