Long Beach is looking forward to another memorable track & field season this spring. The Wilson Bruins are the reigning CIF-SS champions and won the program’s fourth state title last May. Long Beach Poly were the runners-up to Wilson at the CIF-SS finals, and emerging programs elsewhere in the city should lead to exciting competition throughout the 2024 season.

Elsewhere in the Moore League, Cabrillo is gradually increasing its numbers under head coach Kennard Hamilton. He expects returning sprinters Melody Toney and Cynthia Garcia to lead the way for the Jags this season.
At Compton, Coach Derrick Anderson has a trio of athletes he’s hoping can do some big things this season. Senior Ruby Valdavia is hoping to place in the shot put at league finals, while classmate Nyla Milligan is aiming to break the school record in the long jump. Freshman Laila Williams is coming in with high expectations, aiming at the school records in both the long and triple jumps.
Outside of the Moore League, St. Anthony will look to be competitive with a small roster under head coach Stephen Kelley. Sophomore Layla Starks will lead the way in the sprints while fellow sophomore Olivia Alvarez-Knapp will specialize in the mile.
