Long Beach Poly defeated Millikan on Thursday night on the road to wrap up at least a share of this year’s Moore League boys’ basketball championship. With Jordan defeating Lakewood minutes after, the Jackrabbits ended up as outright Moore League champions following their 67-42 defeat of the Rams.
Jovani Ruff led Poly with 20 points, followed by 10 from Austin Unegbu. Millikan was led by Max Crawford, who scored 10 points.
The championship is Poly’s 14th in the last 15 years, after Jordan snapped their 13-year title streak last season. The future is bright for the Jackrabbits, who are ranked No. 6 in their CIF-SS division and who start four underclassmen with another three coming off the bench.
Poly and the rest of the league will await the release of the CIF-SS brackets on Sunday at noon.
