Steve Marquez delivered the late game-winning goal for Long Beach Poly in a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night at Wilson.
Poly and Wilson are now tied for second place in the Moore League with 19 points, and Millikan is alone in first place with 22 points. There are three league game days left in the regular season, and the Rams are hosting the Bruins on Friday in a key matchup.
The Jackrabbits took an early lead in the third minute when Felix Rivera netted a free kick from about 30 yard out. Poly doubled its lead in the 15th minute when Antony Martinez Urrutia scored and the visitors took that 2-0 lead to halftime.
This is the second straight game that Wilson has fallen behind 2-0 and come back to tie it up, just like the Bruins did on Monday against Lakewood.
However, a foul in Wilson’s 18-yard box resulted in the penalty kick that Marquez converted for the game-winning goal.
Poly travels to Cabrillo on Monday.
