Last year’s Long Beach girls’ basketball season was full of many historic moments.
Long Beach Poly won a Moore League-record 17th consecutive league championship.
Jordan made the playoffs for the first time since 2015. They made a deep run, reaching the quarterfinals for the first time in over a decade.
This year, more history is on the line. Poly is hoping to extend their title streak to 18 years, while the rest of the league is trying to knock them off. St. Anthony and Poly are among the best teams in Southern California and will vye for CIF-SS and State titles.
Other programs are hoping to bounce back this year, whether because of a change in leadership or a disappointing season last year.
Long Beach Poly and Wilson kick off Moore League action on Dec. 11 while most of the other teams will start league play on Dec. 13.
