The Millikan Rams (5-3, 3-1) travel to Compton College on Friday night to take on the Compton Tarbabes (3-4, 1-2) in a Moore League showdown.
Last week, the Rams dominated the Lakewood Lancers, 43-0, and kept the historic Hamilton Trophy. Led by a much-improved defense, Millikan looks like they are getting hot at the right time, and they are looking to secure their second place finish in Moore League.
The Rams had five interceptions last week to secure their first shutout of the season, and will need to switch gears to face a much more run-heavy opponent this week.
As for Compton, they lost 46-20 and the 91 Cup to Jordan last week, despite holding possession for three quarters. Miscues at the end of critical drives hurt the Tarbabes, and Compton will be trying to return to even .500. With a victory, and some help, Compton can find themselves back in the mix for playoff contention.
Millikan has won three straight against Compton, including a 50-20 win last season. Compton’s last victory in the series was a 48-42 victory back in 2019.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday at Compton College.
