HIGH SCHOOL
Darius Curry, Long Beach Poly Football
It says something about how consistently good Colorado State commit Darius Curry has been the last two years that Friday’s 46-0 win over Wilson didn’t feel like a great game from him. Curry threw two interceptions, but more than made up for it with 235 yards passing and four touchdowns on a 65% completion rate.
Ryan Pellum, Millikan Football
USC commit Ryan Pellum once again had a big game for the Rams as he led them to a blowout win over rival Lakewood. Pellum had 126 total yards and three touchdowns for Millikan.
Jordan Washington, Jordan Football
Arizona commit Jordan Washington is looking healthy and continuing his excellent senior campaign. Washington had five touchdowns in Jordan’s win over Compton, with over 200 all-purpose yards. Washington had three touchdowns of more than 50 yards.
Enzo Brigagliano, Wilson Water Polo
Enzo Brigagliano is one of many talented players for the Wilson water polo team, and the junior standout led the Bruins to an 18-3 win over Millikan last week, keeping them unbeaten in the Moore League yet again.
Cynthia Hinojosa, Long Beach Poly Volleyball
Cynthia Hinojosa led Poly to a win on senior night that all but clinched a share of the Moore league title. Hinojosa had 11 kills in the sweep of Millikan.
Aaya McLyn, Long Beach Poly Flag Football
Long Beach Poly was happy to have QB1 Aaya McLyn back for their game against Wilson last week. McLyn had three passing TDs and one rushing touchdown to lead the Jackrabbits to victory, keeping them undefeated.
Julia Klenk, St. Anthony Golf
St. Anthony golfer Julia Klenk has had a series of great performances this year, and in the last two league matches she has two eagles and three birdies to lead the Saints to victories.
COLLEGE
Cherrie Cox, Long Beach State Soccer
Sophomore Cherrie Cox scored a pair of goals to help lift Long Beach State to a road win at CSUN. Cox is now tied with teammate Elysia Laramie for the goals lead in the Big West.
