It’s going to be a battle of two Moore League teams desperate for a win tonight when Compton hosts Jordan at Compton College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Jordan (4-2, 0-2) is still looking for its first league win, while Compton (3-3, 1-1) is coming off a bye week with its toughest games coming up this month.
Although same in color, these teams are opposite in playing style.
Compton’s double-wing rushing attack is led by quarterback Francis Madera and running backs John John Bledsoe and Hayden Ginn. On the other hand, Jordan’s fast gun-slinging passing game led by quarterback J.J. Nielsen, running back Jordan Washington and wide receiver Jake Bautista.
After going 4-0 in the preseason for the second straight year, the Panthers are trying to bounce back from losses to Millikan and Lakewood.
Compton ground out a 13-6 league opening win at Cabrillo. However, they couldn’t stop the run in a 42-13 loss at Wilson two weeks ago.
With only three games remaining after this week, this victory for either team could make or break playoff potential. Last year’s contest was a 43-20 victory for Jordan, which took a Panther fourth-quarter surge to get past Compton.
Compton last beat Jordan in the shortened 2020 season.
