HIGH SCHOOL

Josh “Noodles” Cason, Long Beach Poly Football

Josh “Noodles” Cason was the heart and soul of Long Beach Poly’s win over Millikan last week, starting at linebacker and also at running back, where he had 17 carries for 100 yards and three touchdowns including the game winner in overtime.

Rovana Tufugafale, Lakewood Football

Rovana Tufugafale was the leader for Lakewood’s stifling defense in an impressive win over Jordan last week. Tufugafale had three sacks to lead a Lancers defense that lived in the backfield all game.

Cedra Talaga, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Cedra Talaga is a freshman to watch at Long Beach Poly. She helped lead the Jackrabbits to a win at Lakewood with 14 kills, 14 digs, two aces and a block last week. The win keeps Poly undefeated atop the Moore League.

Jason Parra, Millikan Cross Country

Millikan senior Jason Parra had a heck of a week. He picked up the individual win at the Moore League cross country meet at El Dorado, set a new course record, and then later that day committed to run in the NCAA at Notre Dame.

Nadia Mejia, Millikan Cross Country

Millikan sophomore Nadia Mejia was the standout at last week’s Moore League cross country opener. Mejia broke the course record and picked up an individual win with a time of 17:26, a new course record.

COLLEGE

Luke Toomalatai, LBCC Football

LBCC coach Brett Peabody has Luke Toomalatai down as the best JuCo D-Lineman in America, and he’s been playing like it. He had two sacks and three tackles for a loss in a win over Cerritos on Saturday, and is at seven sacks and 10 TFL on the season.

Natalie Glenn, Long Beach State Volleyball

Junior Natalie Glenn was outstanding in leading Long Beach State to a pair of sweeps over UC San Diego and Hawai’i. The win over Hawai’i handed the Rainbow Wahine a rare 3-0 loss and was the first win for the Beach over UH since 2016. Glenn averaged 4.67 kills per set while hitting .407 on the weekend, making four aces and 11 digs.
