The Long Beach State women’s volleyball team pulled off a signature win in the Walter Pyramid on Friday night in front of more than 3,000 fans. The Beach took it to preseason Big West favorite Hawaii in straight sets, their first sweep of the Rainbow Wahine since 1997. The win was also the Beach’s first victory over Hawaii in 11 tries, a streak that dates back to 2016.
Long Beach State improved to 9-5 overall and are now tied with Hawaii for second in conference thanks to the 25-22, 26-24, 25-21 victory.
The Beach was led by Abby Karich (13 kills) and Natalie Glenn (11 kills). Setter Zayna Meyer had 32 assists in the win.
LBSU hits the road to face Cal State Bakersfield and CSUN next week.
