Mikey Beresford, Long Beach Poly Football
Mikey Beresford is normally a lockdown cornerback for Long Beach Poly, but injuries forced him into the lineup at receiver against Lakewood. Beresford excelled, with a pair of touchdown catches for the Jackrabbits.
Loyall Louzon, Millikan Football
Millikan’s Loyall Mouzon scored three touchdowns of 11, 85 and 93 yards against Wilson in a blowout victory, racking up more than 200 total yards in addition to the three scores.
John John Bledsoe, Compton Football
John John Bledsoe was a standout tonight for Compton in their narrow win over Cabrillo. Bledsoe had 21 carries for 104 yards and the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Saniya Kimbrough, Long Beach Poly Volleyball
Saniya Kimbrough had a team-high 15 kills in Poly’s reverse sweep against San Clemente in the Steve Lewis Volleyfest, and was one of the team’s top offensive weapons in a win over Wilson earlier in the week.
Babi Gubbins, Wilson Volleyball
Coming off a loss to Poly, Wilson wanted to make a statement at the Steve Lewis Volleyfest. Stanford-bound Babi Gubbins led the Bruins in kills in their dominant sweep of South Pasadena.
Elle Dennison, Long Beach Poly Football
Long Beach Poly defeated Lakewood in back-to-back shutouts in a battle of two of the city’s top teams last week. Elle Dennison had four interceptions in the two Poly wins as part of a lockdown defensive effort.
COLLEGE
Will Madonna, LBCC Football
LBCC quarterback Will Madonna and his teammates left no doubt in a dominant win over Southwestern on Saturday. Madonna had five total touchdowns including four passing TDs in the blowout win.
Enaya Vaielua, LBCC Volleyball
LBCC’s women’s volleyball team is undefeated and ranked in the state, thanks in part to the versatile efforts of Enaya Vaielua. She had a rare triple-double against Mt. SAC in a five-set win lsat week, with 21 kills, 10 assists, 17 digs and four aces.
