Darius Curry, Long Beach Poly Football
Long Beach Poly senior QB Darius Curry had another masterful effort in the Jackrabbits’ win over Serra. In only one half of action due to a shortened game, Curry was 13/21 for 223 yards and three touchdowns, outgaining Serra’s entire team 223 yards to 175.
JJ Nielsen, Jordan Football
Jordan senior QB JJ Nielsen was once again the motor for his team’s offense as he led the Panthers to a win over La Mirada, wrapping up an undefeated 4-0 nonleague schedule. Nielsen was responsible for all four Jordan touchdowns, including two rushing touchdowns of 60 yards or longer, and two passing scores.
Laighton Scott, Wilson Football
Laighton Scott made an immediate impact in his debut for the Bruins in their home opener, leading them to their first win of the season. Scott scored three touchdowns for Wilson and rushed for over 120 yards as well.
Kristen Dear, Long Beach Poly Volleyball
Long Beach Poly junior Kristen Dear is a rising volleyball star, and she had a huge match for Poly in their first win over Lakewood since 2019 last week. Dear had 10 kills in the middle of the net as well as four blocks and two aces, and came up with a big point every time Poly needed one.
Tiare Ho-Ching, Long Beach Poly Football
Long Beach Poly senior Tiare Ho-Ching is committed to Arizona State for softball, but has been a star this flag football season for the Jackrabbits as well. Ho-Ching played both ways in last week’s Moore League opener, throwing two touchdowns as QB and grabbing two interceptions as a defender, including a pick-six.
Asia Edwards, Jordan Football
Jordan basketball standout Asia Edwards has proven to be one of the Panthers’ best flag football players as well. Edwards had four touchdown catches for Jordan in wins over Millikan and Wilson in last week’s Moore League opening day.
