Jordan is blessed with experienced coaches as well, with AJ Luke at the helm at Sharaud Moore assisting. Luke was a longtime assistant football coach at Poly (where he was also a standout athlete) and the head football coach at Cabrillo as well. Moore is the school’s award-winning track and field coach, who recently led the Panthers to their first CIF-SS title since Ron Massey was coaching basketball in North Long Beach.
“I’m honored to be selected to build this program from the ground up with Sharaud Moore,” said Luke. “I’m thankful that our other coaches on campus work together to assure our girls have a chance to participate.”
That buy-in from the campus has allowed Luke to recruit some of the most talented girls on Jordan’s campus to the football program. Asia Edwards and Mycha Lemons (both All-Moore League basketball players) will be among the team’s leaders along with Katelyn Garcia and Amberly Reyes, who were both All-Moore League softball selections.
“I’m expecting our team to be committed to working hard and getting better every day,” said Luke. “But most of all, enjoying every moment of being a part of something that they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
