Wilson is the last Long Beach high school football team to start their season and the Bruins do so tonight at Redondo Union. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Redondo Union is also playing its first game after going 8-4 last year and losing to Lakewood in the CIF playoffs. That campaign also started with a game against Wilson. The Sea Hawks rolled to an easy 33-0 win.
The Bruins haven’t reached the CIF playoffs since 2019.
“Our energy is up and everyone is excited to get the season underway get further than we have in recent years,” Wilson lineman Hunter Houston said. “Our team chemistry this year is also better than it’s been. We’re really focusing on finishing in the fourth quarter.”
