No. 2 – Wilson Girls’ Track Wins State Title
Of the five state championships won by Wilson High School, four of them have been claimed by the girls’ track & field program. The latest trophy in that collection was added in 2023, as the Wilson girls won their first state title in 17 years with a strong performance in Clovis.
The Bruins racked up 44 points to beat out second-place Culver City (fittingly coached by Wilson alum and Olympian Lashinda Demus), who finished with 31 points. Wilson didn’t even need to run its final race of the meet, but went ahead and took second in the 4×400 relay.
A pair of Bruins won individual state titles during the meet, with Aujane Luckey winning the 400 and Kaylin Edwards winning the 300 hurdles.
