The Long Beach State men’s basketball program got a lot better on Wednesday with the announcement that Stanford’s 6’4” point guard Isa Silva has committed to transfer to The Beach for next season.
“Coming into this spring, as a staff we identified the point guard position as our number one recruiting priority, and recruiting a point guard is all about finding the right fit,” LBSU coach Dan Monson said in the official press release. “We believe Silva is a perfect fit for the Beach. He can help win games in a myriad of ways. Isa can score at all three levels, he is an elite passer, and is a natural facilitator.
Silva shot 40.4 percent from 3-point range and averaged 3.5 assists per 40 minutes over the last two seasons at Stanford. He was a consensus Top 100 recruit out of Jesuit High School in Sacramento where he was ranked a No. 53 recruit in the nation by ESPN.
“He is not only a pure point guard. Isa has high-level playing experience with Jesuit High School, Compton Magic and Stanford University,” Monson added. “His charisma and character give him instant credibility as a leader as well. We truly believe he can help elevate our program to the next level.”
