HIGH SCHOOL
Austin Paul, Millikan Baseball
Millikan pitcher Austin Paul turned in a gem last Friday against Lakewood, pitching a complete game shutout while giving up just three hits and walking only one batter. The win keeps the Rams within striking distance of first-place in the Moore League.
Katelynn Lewis, Lakewood Softball
Lakewood’s big win over Long Beach Poly has the Lancers just a game out of first place. Freshman Katelynn Lewis hit a walkoff two-RBI single up the middle to walk it off for the Lancers in a comeback 3-2 win.
Colin Geer, Long Beach Poly Swimming
Long Beach Poly senior and Michigan signee Colin Geer led Long Beach Poly to their biggest win over Wilson in more than a half-century, as the Jackrabbits defeated WIlson 104-66. Geer won the 200 IM, 100 fly, and led Poly to wins in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
Sammie Hamilton, Wilson Swimming
The Wilson girls won a 92-78 thriller over Long Beach Poly, thanks in part to star swimmer Sammie Hamilton. Hamilton had individual wins in the 200 and 500 freestyle and led Wilson to wins in the 200 and 400 free relays.
Jae Simon, Long Beach Poly Baseball
Long Beach Poly’s Jae Simon hit a grand slam and had an RBI triple in a big win at Wilson last week, keeping the Jackrabbits undefeated in Moore League play.
Jackson Cryst, Millikan Volleyball
Millikan standout volleyball/basketball player Jackson Cryst didn’t want to let his team lose to Long Beach Poly a second time this year, and he led his Rams to a sweep of the Jackrabbits with a 20-kill performance on the road last week, hitting over .500 in the match.
