Gavin Laverde, Millikan Wrestling
Gavin Laverde won his matchup against Long Beach Poly last week, helping to lead the Rams to a dual meet win as well as clinching this year’s Moore League team championship.
Athziri Guizar, Long Beach Poly Wrestling
Long Beach Poly’s Athziri Guizar came up with a big pin last week against Millikan to help lead Poly to a win, and clinch a three-way league championship with Poly, Millikan, and Wilson sharing the top spot.
Tyler Small, St. Anthony Basketball
It was a big night for senior Tyler Small in a St. Anthony win over St. Paul last week. The Saints stay in the title hunt with the win, which came in large part thanks to the 20 points by Small.
Mason Pacheco, Lakewood Basketball
Lakewood guard Mason Pacheco scored 12 of his team-high 22 pts in the fourth quarter against Long Beach Poly last week, helping to force overtime where the Lancers ultimately picked up the W.
Andrea Perkins, Long Beach Poly Basketball
Long Beach Poly junior Andrea Perkins celebrated her birthday in a big way, dropping 17 points for the Jackrabbits down the stretch to lead Poly to a win over Lakewood, all but clinching another league title.
Olivia Herrera, Wilson Soccer
Wilson stayed in the Moore League title hunt with a big win over Long Beach Poly last week. Freshman Zoe Fontenot scored the game-winner but ASU signee Olivia Herrera put up a massive shutout in goal to secure the victory.

Marcus Tsohonis, Long Beach State Basketball
Tsohonis scored the most points in a single-game over the 73-year history of Long Beach State Men’s Basketball, putting up 46 points in a triple-overtime thriller on the road at UC San Diego. Tsohonis broke the record shared by Ed Ratleff and Gabe Levin of 45 points.
Tori Harris, Long Beach State Basketball
Tori Harris had a career night with 32 points for Long Beach State in an impressive win over UCSD last weekend, the most points scored by a player for the Beach in a decade.
