The CIF Southern Section volleyball brackets were released Monday, and there was good news for four Long Beach schools as Wilson, Millikan, Long Beach Poly, and Lakewood all look to start their playoff journeys this week.
Division 2
The draw was fantastic for undefeated Moore League champion Wilson, as the Bruins enter the D2 bracket seeded No. 3, with a bye into Saturday’s second round, where they’ll host the winner of Cypress and Foothill.
Wilson was on the cusp of D1/D2 all year and would have been a low-seeded D1 team with a tough first-round draw. Instead they get a very winnable D2 draw with a bye to start things off.
Long Beach Poly is also in D2 and will travel to Anaheim Canyon on Thursday evening.
Division 3
Lakewood received a wild card draw and will travel to El Segundo Tuesday; if the Lancers win they’d go to top-seeded Upland on Thursday.
Division 4
Millikan hosts Cathedral on Thursday in a first-rounder.
