Dan and Desiree Gooch Sponsor The562.org’s Golf Coverage

The562.org is pleased to announce our latest sport-specific sponsor. Longtime Long Beach golf supporter (and current The562.org boardmember) Dan Gooch has stepped up to sponsor all of The562’s coverage of golf from now through the end of the school year.

The sponsorship from Dan and Desiree Gooch will be in support of our coverage of golf at the high school and collegiate level. The Gooches have supported the sport of golf through volunteer and charitable efforts for many years; in 2018 they created the Marie C. Gooch Endowed Scholarship for the Long Beach State women’s golf program, in honor of Dan’s mother.

“Desiree and I are pleased to sponsor The562’s golf coverage and help highlight the achievements of Long Beach’s golfers,” said Dan Gooch. “Our community has a rich history on the golf course and we are grateful to be able to help provide coverage to all levels of the game.”

“Dan and Desiree are treasured members of the Long Beach sports community and their support is invaluable to us,” said The562’s publisher, Andy Kerr.

Long Beach has a golf history like no other city, with a long record of expanding access to everyone at local public courses. Long Beach native Patrick Cantlay is one of the best in the world, and is coached by Long Beach’s own Jamie Mulligan. We’ve been proud to chronicle the sport at all levels in the city, with more than 100 articles, videos, and photo galleries covering local golfers over the last four years.

Dan and Desiree Gooch are the latest sponsor to help to support The562’s award-winning local sports coverage. Previous sponsors include John Ross sponsoring Jordan coverage, the Cohn family sponsoring Cabrillo coverage, Joel Bitonio sponsoring Wilson coverage, Naples Car Wash sponsoring Long Beach State volleyball coverage, P2S, Inc sponsoring our Dirtbags coverage, Bryson Financial sponsoring this year’s cross country coverage and Aqualand sponsoring water polo.

As a non-profit news outlet, The562 depends on reader support and sponsorships in order to cover the Long Beach community. If you’re interested in sponsoring The562’s coverage, or coverage of a specific school or sport, email Tyler@The562.org or visit our Support page to get involved. Any donation made to The562 is fully tax-deductible.
