VIDEO: Compton vs. St. John Bosco, Boys’ Basketball

Compton faced a tough road test in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Bosco Winter Classic, taking on the host St. John Bosco Braves on Thursday evening in Bellflower. Compton got 14 points from senior forward Malachi Scott, but couldn’t keep pace with the Braves in a 69-36 loss.

Scott had 10 of his 14 points after halftime, including an impressive one-handed dunk along the baseline that cut Bosco’s lead to a dozen, 37-25, with 4:20 left in the third quarter. However, the Braves closed the third quarter on a 13-2 run to take a 50-29 advantage into the final frame.

Bosco was led by 16 points from Kade Bonam, 14 points from Christian Estrada and 13 from Elzie Harrington.

The Braves advance to play Serra in the semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. while Compton will face Sherman Oaks Notre Dame at 4 p.m. on Friday in the loser’s bracket.
