Wilson and Long Beach Poly both won their first-round CIF Southern Section playoff matches on Wednesday, and will advance to Friday’s second round.
In Division 2, Moore League champs (and still undefeated) Wilson easily dispatched visiting Saugus, 14-4. The Bruins will host Troy on Friday at 2 p.m. in their second round matchup.
In Division 4, the Jackrabbits had already won a Wild Card game, and entered Wednesday’s first-round match at Jurupa Valley as decided underdogs. Poly pulled off the rare feat of winning a first-round match after advancing from the Wild Card, knocking off Jurupa Valley 16-2. Poly will travel to El Monte on Friday for their second-round match.
In other action, Millikan lost a Division 3 first-round match to Whitney, 11-7.
