Damian Henderson, Jordan Football
Jordan junior Damian Henderson turned in a star performance in the team’s season-opening overtime win, with a rushing touchdown, a kickoff return for a touchdown, a sack, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Jeremie McGurn, Jordan Football
Jeremie McGurn transferred back to Jordan for his senior year, and the Panthers are glad he did. McGurn had two touchdowns on offense and an interception on defense plus several big hits in Jordan’s win to start the season.
Makhi Travis, Jordan Football
Quarterback Makhi Travis was a huge motor for the Panthers in their overtime win last week. Travis ran for three touchdowns in the game, including one after coming back into the game following an injury.
COLLEGE
Morgan Houston-Shepherd, Long Beach State Soccer
Long Beach State redshirt freshman Morgan Houston-Shepherd earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors for posting a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over CSUN last week, her collegiate debut. Houston-Shepherd led the Beach to their first season-opening shutout since 2015 with one save in the 90th minute.
