The Cabrillo girls’ water polo team picked up its first-ever Moore League win with a 6-5 defeat of Jordan on Wednesday afternoon in the Jaguars’ pool.
“This was so big for our student-athletes, especially our seniors,” said Cabrillo coach Emily View. “COVID has put a damper on so many things for our students, to get to see our athletes who have worked so hard, not knowing what it would be for, earn their first Moore League victory is quite an honor.”
Senior Esmerelda Torres led the Jaguars with four goals, while junior Jenny Topete and freshman Anaisa Maestas each added one. Maestas’ goal in the fourth quarter put the Jaguars in the lead. Goalie Alondra Nunez had 19 saves for the Jaguars.
