HIGH SCHOOL

Nathan Lucindo, Cabrillo Water Polo

Cabrillo goalie Nathan Lucindo stole the show at last week’s Moore League Water Polo Showcase, helping the Jaguars to a 4-3 win over Lakewood. Lucindo had 14 saves in the game including one at the last-second on a shot that would have tied the game.

Gray Carson, Wilson Water Polo

Wilson’s Gray Carson is one of Long Beach’s best water polo players this year, and he showed his skill last week in a big Wilson win over Long Beach Poly, 16-2. Carson’s six goals were a game-high.

Riley Jenkins, St. Anthony Football

St. Anthony snapped a four-game losing skid last week, and the skills of receiver Riley Jenkins was a big part of why. QB Lucas Lehmar passed for 211 yards, more than half of which went to Jenkins, who had four catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

Malachi Rice, Long Beach Poly Football

Long Beach Poly senior Malachi Rice was the breakout star of Poly’s 38-3 win over Millikan last week, powering a rushing attack that put up 350 yards on the ground. Rice was responsible for 169 yards and four touchdowns on just 16 carries to lead Poly to the win.

Elle Requejo, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

There were plenty of stars for Long Beach Poly in a three-set sweep of Lakewood last week. Senior Elle Requejo had 10 kills, four blocks, and two aces in one of her best showings as a Jackrabbit. Poly setter/outside hitter Adonia Faumuina also put up a triple-double in the match.
